Braun flexing his muscles for Brewers
Jun 2, 2007 - 2:09 PM Florida (26-29) at Milwaukee (31-24) 7:05 pm EDTMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Just eight games into his major league career, it is looking like Ryan Braun is living up to his press clippings.
Braun and the Milwaukee Brewers meet the Florida Marlins for the third time in their four-game series on Saturday at Miller Park.
The fifth overall pick in the 2005 draft, Braun homered, doubled and singled on Friday and is 9-for-30 with two homers, six RBI and two steals after just more than a week in the majors. The 23-year-old third baseman hit .342 with 10 homers and 22 RBI in 34 minor league games this season before his promotion.
Chris Capuano (5-4, 3.94 ERA), who has lost four straight starts, will look for Braun's help to prolong the Brewers' four-game winning streak versus the Marlins. He is 3-1 with a 2.91 ERA in five career outings against Florida.
The lefthander allowed two runs and seven hits over seven innings in Monday's 2-1 loss against the Braves.
Byung-Hyun Kim (3-2, 5.16), who is 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA after joining the Marlins in the trade that sent reliever Jorge Julio to Colorado, looks to build on his longest start of the season. Over six scoreless frames, the righthander yielded just three hits and struck out five in a 5-3 win over the Cubs.
Kim is 1-1 with a 4.66 ERA in 14 career games - including two starts - against the Brewers.
