Hall comes through in 10th

CINCINNATI (Ticker) - Bill Hall loves facing the Cincinnati Reds.

Hall delivered a two-run double in the top of the 10th inning Saturday, lifting the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-3 victory over the Reds.

With two outs in the 10th, Hall ripped a double to center field off David Weathers (0-2), helping the Brewers to their third straight win.

"Bill Hall's been a thorn in our side for a long time," Reds manger Dusty Baker said.

Hall, who had an RBI single earlier in the contest, is 6-for-20 with three homers and six RBI against the Reds this season.

"I always seem to do something when I come here, and against them in general," Hall said.

Hall's hit in the 10th made a winner out of Guillermo Mota (1-0), who worked two scoreless inning. Eric Gagne pitched the 10th for his sixth save.

"The bullpen has done a great job of holding the fort, and allowing us to battle back into games and they have held leads when we go it," Brewers manager Ned Yost said.

Milwaukee improved to 4-0 in extra innings.

Brewers starter Jeff Suppan went 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and three hits.

"I was throwing strikes, that's what I had going for me today," Suppan said. "Not one pitch in particular, I was just able to stay in the zone and use my defense."

Suppan left with one on and a 2-0 lead in the seventh. But he lost his chance for a win when Joey Votto homered off reliever Brian Shouse.

"Shouse has been as good as anybody in the league. It just shows you that you are playing with the best players in the world, and things happen," Yost said.

Corey Hart gave Suppan an early lead, hitting his first homer of the season in the second inning, a blast into the right field bleachers.

Hall added to the lead with a run-scoring single in the fourth. Gabe Gross added a sacrifice fly later in the frame for a 3-0 advantage.

The Reds manufactured a run in the fourth when Jeff Keppinger led off with a double to left field and scored on Ken Griffey Jr's. groundout two batters later.

Reds rookie Johnny Cueto went seven innings, allowing three runs and five hits. The 22-year-old righthander walked two and struck out five.
