Mets-Phillies Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies have a chance to earn a rare series win at home.
They'll try to win their fourth in a row over the New York Mets on Saturday when the NL East rivals continue a weekend series at Citizens Bank Park.
Philadelphia (40-37) ended its six-game home losing streak with a 7-2 victory Friday night. Rodrigo Lopez earned his first win since July 7, 2007 by pitching 6 1-3 effective innings while Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino combined for five hits and three runs in the Phillies' first home game after a 3-6 road trip.
"It seems like we got to the clubhouse excited to be home," Rollins said.
New York (39-40) missed a chance to pull into a three-way tie for first place in the division. The Mets fell into a tie for third with Atlanta, two games behind Philadelphia, which is alone atop the division.
The Phillies own the third-worst home record in the NL at 14-22, and have won only two series at home - both against lowly Washington.
Philadelphia won for the fifth time in 19 games in the series opener, and also was victorious for the first time in a nine-inning game versus New York. The season series is tied at four wins apiece, with the Phillies' first three wins coming in extra innings.
Phillies slugger Ryan Howard went 0 for 2 with two walks. He's second on the club with 20 homers, but has failed to hit one over his last 10 games, and is just 6 for 32 (.188) against the Mets this year.
New York fell to 2-3 on a seven-game trip after David Wright went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts. Wright is 6 for 36 (.167) with one homer, three RBIs and 12 strikeouts in his last nine games.
Ryan Church stayed hot for the Mets with three hits after driving in the game-winning runs in each of their last two contests. Church is 13 for 22 (.591) on this road trip.
Jamie Moyer (6-6, 6.05 ERA) will make his fourth start of the year against the Mets after going 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA in the first three. Wright is 5 for 6 with a homer and three RBIs in those games, and 19 for 41 with three homers and nine RBIs lifetime against Moyer.
Mets slugger Gary Sheffield has also enjoyed facing the 46-year-old left-hander, going 14 for 33 (.424) with four homers and seven RBIs in his career.
Moyer is 2-4 with a 7.15 ERA in seven home starts this year, allowing 11 homers over 39 innings.
He won his second straight start last Saturday at Toronto by giving up four runs over five innings in a 5-4 victory.
Fernando Nieve (3-1, 2.25) will try to bounce back from his first loss of the season for New York. He yielded three runs and a career-high 11 hits over 3 1-3 innings Monday in a 10-6 loss at Milwaukee.
The right-hander has never started against the Phillies. He has made five relief appearances against them, allowing five runs over 1 1-3 innings.
