Tigers-White Sox Preview

Detroit (55-59) at Chicago (64-51), 7:05 p.m. EDT
Last week, Edwin Jackson beat the Detroit Tigers to win his debut with the Chicago White Sox.
The right-hander hopes to defeat his former team again to win his first home start for his new club Saturday night as the White Sox try for a fourth straight victory over the Tigers.
Acquired from Arizona at last month's trade deadline, Jackson (7-10, 4.83 ERA) is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA in two starts for Chicago (65-51). That victory came when he allowed a run and struck out six in seven innings of a 4-1 win at Detroit on Aug. 4, beating a team that traded him after going 13-9 with a 3.62 ERA in 2009.
"I'm not worried about pitching against my old team, and I'm not worried about trying to impress anyone with my new team," Jackson said. "The people that run this team know I can pitch or they wouldn't have traded me for me. I have one job - win games in the pennant race."
He has tried his best to do that in two starts for a White Sox club that is one game behind first-place Minnesota in the AL Central.
Jackson, who gave up two runs and struck out seven in six innings of a 3-2, 10-inning loss at Baltimore on Monday, is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA in four starts against the Tigers. Both wins came this season while posting a 2.45 ERA.
He'll try to help the White Sox to a second straight victory after Friday's 8-4 win over the Tigers (55-60), who have lost seven of nine to Chicago this season.
Gordon Beckham hit a three-run homer and Mark Teahen added a two-run shot in his first game after missing more than two months with a broken finger for Chicago, which bounced back after losing two of three at home to the Twins.
An AL Rookie of the Year candidate in 2009, Beckham has raised his average from .205 to .251 in his last 29 games, batting .379 with five homers and 20 RBIs.
"To be in the worst part of my career and get out of it, I think it'll help me down the road," Beckham said.
Batting .308 versus Detroit this season, Beckham is 2 for 3 with a double and a home run against scheduled Tigers starter Rick Porcello (5-10, 5.74). The right-hander looks to build on his first win since May 23 and notch his first victory against the White Sox.
Porcello was 0-6 with a 6.26 ERA over a span of eight starts - he spent a month in the minors in the middle of that drought - before allowing three runs in six innings of a 9-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.
"It feels good to finally help the team and get a win," he said.
Porcello, however, is 0-4 with a 10.80 ERA versus Chicago. Three of those losses have come this season, giving up 19 runs in 14 2-3 innings.
Ryan Raburn homered and had three hits Friday for the Tigers, who have lost 23 of 30 to fall 10 1/2 games back in the Central.
"We're doing enough to lose games, not enough to win," manager Jim Leyland said.
Detroit's Miguel Cabrera drove in a run Friday to give him 50 RBIs in 51 road games. However, he's 4 for 29 against Chicago this season.
