Pirates take on Marlins again at PNC Park

Sep 10, 2011 - 3:01 PM (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh southpaw Jeff Locke hopes Florida's bats cool down from Friday when the 23-year-old makes his major league debut tonight.

The Marlins scored nine times in the third inning en route to a 13-4 rout.

Locke was acquired by the Pirates from Atlanta on June 3, 2009, along with pitcher Charlie Morton and outfielder Gorkys Hernandez, in a deal for outfielder Nate McLouth. He went 8-10 with a 3.70 ERA in 28 minor league games (27 starts) this season.

Anibal Sanchez, who has just one win in his last 15 starts, takes the mound for the Marlins. The right-hander did not factor in the decision in his last start, a six-inning effort on Sunday in a 5-4, 14-inning victory over the Phillies. He gave up two unearned runs on six hits. In two lifetime games against the Pirates, Sanchez is 1-1 with a 2.77 ERA.

Omar Infante and Logan Morrison homered during Florida's big frame last night in the opener of this three-game series. Infante also hit a solo shot in the first and an RBI double in the second inning to finish with five RBI for the Marlins, who have won six straight and 12 of the last 14 games against the Pirates.

Morrison finished 4-for-6 with three RBI for Florida, which banged out a season-high 22 hits, three shy of the club record.

"It was fun. It's good when the ball is falling and finding holes," Morrison said.

Pittsburgh starter Ross Ohlendorf (0-2) was lifted from the game without having retired a batter in the third.

"Today was just bad," Ohlendorf simply stated.
