Stewart carried a perfect game into the eighth inning on Monday against Minnesota before allowing a leadoff double. He settled for a one-hit shutout and struck out nine without walking a batter, as he improved to 2-3 to go along with a 4.56 earned run average.
"It was a lot of fun. It was just one of those things," Stewart said. "In the 'pen, the ball was coming out good. I could tell it was going to be somewhat of a good night. I didn't know it was going to be that good. But it just felt good from the beginning."
This will be Stewart's first start against the Indians.
Cleveland, meanwhile, will counter with righty Ubaldo Jimenez, who is just 2-2 with a 5.27 ERA in seven starts since being acquired from Colorado at the non- waiver trade deadline. Jimenez absorbed the loss on Monday against Detroit and surrendered three runs and two hits with three walks in seven innings.
Jimenez did not get a decision against the White Sox back on August 16 and has yet to receive a decision in two starts against them, but has pitched to a 4.63 ERA.
Chicago won in dramatic fashion on Saturday, as Alex Rios' 10th inning grand slam propelled the White Sox to a 7-3 win.
With Chris Perez (3-7) on the mound, Juan Pierre doubled to start the frame. Alexei Ramirez fouled out trying to bunt, but Paul Konerko was issued an intentional pass and Tyler Flowers followed with a walk to load the bases for Rios, who drilled a first-pitch fastball over the wall in left for the win.
"We battled through the whole game and it was a long game," said Rios. "It felt really good to get that hit right there and come through for the team."
Rios' first career grand slam made a winner of Sergio Santos (4-4), who threw an uneventful 10th inning to help the White Sox win for the fifth time in their past seven games.
Gordon Beckham drove in two runs while Pierre had an RBI and scored a run for Chicago, which got six innings of two-run, seven-hit ball out of starter Philip Humber.
Shelley Duncan hit a solo home run while Matt LaPorta added a two-run double for the Indians, who have lost five of six. Fausto Carmona gave up three runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings.
"They've been good throughout the year," said Cleveland manager Manny Acta about his bullpen. "They will have rough spots here and there, but I'm not going to complain about it cause they've been very good for us this year."
Chicago has gotten the better of its division rivals this season, winning nine of the 13 matchups, including five of the eight meetings in the Windy City.
