Dodgers, Rockies square off again at Coors Field
May 1, 2012 - 2:52 PM (Sports Network) - Veteran lefty Ted Lilly tries to stay unbeaten tonight when the Los Angeles Dodgers visit Coors Field for the second of three games against the host Colorado Rockies.Lilly, who's made 321 starts in 346 big-league appearances, is 8-2 in 12 games against Colorado with a 3.84 earned run average, 55 hits allowed and 70 strikeouts in 68 career innings.
He's 2-0 with a no-decision in three starts thus far in 2012, giving up just three runs in nine hits in 20 innings while beating San Diego and Houston and getting a no-decision against Atlanta.
Batters averaged just .138 against him in April, 104 points below his career mark.
The Rockies go with 24-year-old Venezuelan righty Jhoulys Chacin, who's winless in four starts this season and has 20 wins in 72 big-league outings.
Chacin, who was signed by Colorado in 2004 as an undrafted free agent, debuted with nine appearances in 2009 and won nine times in 20 decisions in his first extended stint a year later.
He upped his output to a career-best 11 triumphs in 2011, but is still searching for a first win this year after going 0-2 with two no-decisions in April.
He dropped a 7-0 decision to San Francisco on April 9 and lost a 5-1 verdict at Pittsburgh on April 25. In between, the Rockies won both games in which he pitched, while Chacin gave up eight hits and four runs in 11 innings.
He is 6-4 lifetime against the Dodgers with a 2.39 ERA.
On Monday, Carlos Gonzalez, Troy Tulowitzki and Ramon Hernandez each drove in a pair of runs to lead the Rockies to a 6-2 win in the series opener. Juan Nicasio (2-0) pitched into the seventh and allowed two runs on nine hits and a pair of walks to earn the win and snap Colorado's two-game skid.
The Rockies did most of their damage against Aaron Harang (1-2), who was touched for five runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings on the hill.
Matt Kemp belted his 12th home run of the young season, but the red-hot slugger struck out against Esmil Rogers with the bases loaded and no outs in the seventh inning.
