Dodgers' Lilly aims to bloom vs. Rockies
May 13, 2012 - 3:17 PM (Sports Network) - Southpaw Ted Lilly can stay unbeaten for the season and win his 10th career decision against Colorado today when the Los Angeles Dodgers close out a three-game series with the Rockies at Dodger Stadium.Lilly, who turned 36 in January, is 9-2 in 13 career meetings with Colorado, including a 7-6 decision on May 1 at Coors Field - when he allowed two runs on four hits across six innings.
The win was Lilly's third of 2012 at the time and he added another victory a start later on May 7 against San Francisco after surrendering just a run on four hits in six innings of a 9-1 triumph.
In 32 innings this season, he's allowed 17 hits and struck out 21 batters.
The NL West-leading Dodgers made it three straight wins on Saturday, when Tony Gwynn Jr. knocked in the go-ahead run with a pinch-hit single in the bottom of the eighth inning for a 2-1 win.
Aaron Harang (2-2) got the win over Rockies starter Juan Nicasio, giving up a run on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in eight innings.
Kenley Jansen struck out one in a perfect ninth inning to wrap up the win, the Dodgers' fourth in five games.
They won the opener of the set on Friday, 7-3.
Colorado's Tyler Colvin homered in the seventh to tie the game, but the Rockies lost for the seventh time in eight games.
Nicasio struck out nine in seven innings and gave up just one run on five hits with no walks in a no decision.
James Loney scored the go-ahead run after leading off the ninth with a single against Josh Outman (0-1), then going to second on A.J. Ellis' sacrifice bunt off Matt Belisle.
The Rockies send 23-year-old righty Alex White to the mound for the second time this season and 12th time in his big-league career.
White was the 15th overall pick of the 2009 draft by the Cleveland Indians and debuted with three starts for them before heading to Colorado as part of the deal that sent Ubaldo Jimenez to the American League on July 30, 2011.
He was 2-4 in seven starts with the Rockies to end last season and began this season with four starts at Triple-A Colorado Springs with a 2.92 earned run average before coming to the majors for a May 8 start at San Diego.
In that outing, a 3-1 loss to the Padres, he gave up two runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings while walking two and striking out five.
White has never faced the Dodgers.
Colorado took two of three matchups against the Dodgers from April 30 - May 2 this season at Coors Field.
