Dodgers likely to be without Kemp, as they try to avoid Brewers sweep

May 31, 2012 - 2:42 PM (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Dodgers will likely be without Matt Kemp this evening when they wrap up a four-game set with the Milwaukee Brewers at Dodger Stadium.

Kemp re-injured his hamstring on Wednesday in Milwaukee's 6-3 win and will undergo an MRI on Thursday with an almost certain return to the disabled list to follow.

"It feels worse than the first time," Kemp said."This is my first time ever really having any hamstring problems, so I don't know how to really treat it."

Kemp, of course, had missed two weeks with the same injury before returning on Tuesday. He had scored on a two-out double in the first inning by Andre Ethier, but seemed to slow up after rounding third and limped into the dugout. He was then seen snapping a bat over his knee in the dugout.

"I just felt it grab a little bit. It's hurting pretty good right now, so we'll see what the MRI says tomorrow," said Kemp, who is hitting .355 with 12 homers and 28 RBI in 36 games. "We went through all the tests, and I was running real hard and doing everything normal. I don't know what happened."

The Brewers won for the fifth time in seven chances on Wednesday, as Carlos Gomez went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored, while Corey Hart added three hits to put Milwaukee on the brink of its first-ever four-game sweep in L.A.

Yovani Gallardo (4-4) gave up three runs on eight hits with three walks and eight strikeouts in six-plus innings.

Clayton Kershaw (4-3) was touched for five runs on eight hits with four walks and seven strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings for the Dodgers, who have lost three straight for the first time this season.

Hoping to get the Dodgers back into the win column tonight will be righty Chad Billingsley, who is 2-3 with a 3.88 ERA, but is winless in his last eight appearances. Billingsley did not get a decision on Saturday against Houston, as he allowed two runs and five hits in five innings.

Billingsley is 2-1 with a 4.31 ERA in eight games (6 starts).

Milwaukee, meanwhile, will turn to righty Zack Greinke, who was roughed up his last time out. Greinke took the loss in Arizona on Saturday and surrendered seven runs and 10 hits in just 2 1/3 innings to drop him to 5-2 on the year to go along with a 3.66 ERA.

"This was bad," Greinke said. "That was just rockets getting hit everywhere. That was some of the worst pitching you'll ever see in your life, if you watch that one."

Greinke has faced the Dodgers three times and is 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA against them.

The Brewers also won two of three over the Dodgers at home from April 17-19 and have taken seven of the past nine encounters overall.
