Holland hopes to bounce back in Minnesota

Apr 27, 2013 - 1:33 PM (Sports Network) - Derek Holland tries to bounce back from a rough start and give the Texas Rangers continued success against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday when the teams resume their four-game series at Target Field.

Holland gave up six hits and six runs in 5 2/3 innings of a no-decision against the Angels on Monday. He's 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA in seven games against the Twins.

The Rangers, who are coming off a 4-3 win in Friday's opener, beat the Twins for the seventh time in the last eight meetings.

Justin Grimm pitched seven innings of shutout baseball. Grimm (2-0) allowed just five hits and had four strikeouts for the Rangers, who have won the first two of this four-game series. Joe Nathan allowed a three-run homer to Oswaldo Arcia, but still picked up his eighth save.

Adrian Beltre smashed a solo shot while Lance Berkman, Nelson Cruz and Ian Kinsler had an RBI apiece in the victory.

Justin Morneau had two of the eight hits for the Twins, who have lost three straight after a five-game winning streak. Starter Scott Diamond (1-2) gave up three runs on 12 hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Pedro Hernandez gets the mound call for the Twins. The lefty, who will take the hill for the fifth time in his career and will make his third start, has yet to record a major league win. He tossed one inning in relief of an 8-5 loss against Miami on Tuesday.

If the Rangers win today they'll remain unbeaten in series play in 2013. Texas is 5-0-2 over its first seven series, the second-longest undefeated streak to start a season in club history, only behind a 7-0-3 mark in 1998.
