Miley, Francis square off in the desert
Apr 27, 2013 - 1:47 PMVideo
Miley, who's appeared in 44 big-league games since he was selected by the Diamondbacks in the 2008 draft, is 4-0 in six meetings with the Rockies while allowing 13 runs on 36 hits in 37 2/3 innings.
He's not faced them this year, but has won two decisions in four overall starts while allowing three or fewer runs in each of his outings and pitching at least six innings in all four as well.
Miley got a no-decision in his most recent showing - a 5-4 Arizona loss in San Francisco - on April 22 after allowing two runs in 6 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts.
He's 11-6 in 21 career home appearances with a 3.37 ERA.
For the Rockies, lefty Jeff Francis can pick up his 10th career victory over the Diamondbacks.
Francis has won nine of 16 decisions against Arizona in 23 starts while posting a 4.58 ERA in 131 2/3 innings.
He was a 5-2 winner over San Diego in his initial 2013 start on April 5, but has lost two starts and picked up a no-decision in three outings since while giving up 22 hits and 19 runs in just 10 innings.
Francis is 6-3 in 12 starts at Chase Field.
On Friday, Troy Tulowitzki hit a go-ahead, bases-clearing double in the fifth inning that lifted the Rockies to a 6-3 win.
Wilin Rosario smacked a solo homer among his two hits for the Rockies, who had dropped four of their last five contests coming in on the heels of an eight- game winning streak.
Juan Nicasio (3-0) surrendered three runs -- one earned -- on four hits and a walk over five frames to pick up the win, while Rafael Betancourt fired a 1-2-3 ninth to notch his eighth save of the season.
Brandon McCarthy (0-3) struck out seven over six innings, but allowed six runs on nine hits for Arizona, which had its three-game winning streak snapped.
The Rockies won two of three games between the teams earlier this month in Colorado, while Arizona won the 2012 series, 10-8.
