Kershaw goes for Dodgers in rubber match with Brewers
Apr 28, 2013 - 2:11 PM (Sports Network) - Clayton Kershaw is winless in his last three starts. He'll try to change that on Sunday when the Los Angeles Dodgers play the rubber match of their three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Dodger Stadium.Kershaw won his first two starts without allowing a run, but is 0-2 in his last three and has seen his ERA rise to 2.14. The Dodgers, though, have also provided him with a combined four runs of support in his last four outings.
Kershaw did not get a decision on Tuesday in New York, but pitched well, as he held the Mets to two runs and three hits in five innings of a 7-2 win.
"I just beat myself. I was awful," Kershaw said. "The team won in spite of me, not because of me. I did everything wrong, just a lot of cardinal sins."
Kershaw has faced the Brewers six times and is 2-3 with a 4.94 ERA.
Milwaukee, meanwhile, will counter with righty Kyle Lohse, who is 1-1 with a 2.52 ERA. Lohse picked up his first win in a Brewers uniform on Monday in San Diego, as he yielded a run and five hits in five innings.
Loshe is 2-3 lifetime versus the Dodgers with a 4.96 ERA in 10 games (8 starts).
Milwaukee evened this series at a game apiece on Saturday, as Carlos Gomez and Martin Maldonado each smacked a two-run homer in the Brewers' 6-4 triumph.
Wily Peralta (2-1) surrendered three runs on six hits and a walk over six frames for the Brewers, who have won 10 of their last 12.
"His fastball was explosive down in the zone. He had them baffled. If he pitches like that he's going to win a lot of games," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said of Peralta's start.
Andre Ethier cracked a solo shot for Los Angeles, which lost for only the second time in six tries.
The Dodgers lost six of seven meetings with Milwaukee last season, losing all four encounters at Chavez Ravine.
