Rockies try to keep offense rolling vs. Dodgers

Apr 30, 2013 - 2:43 PM (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rockies will resume a three-game series against the NL West-rival Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday at Chavez Ravine.

The Rockies took the opener of the set in major fashion by handing the Dodgers a 12-2 beating on Monday night. Wilin Rosario hit a three-run homer and scored three runs, while Nolan Arenado belted a two-run shot for the Rockies, who entered the game having lost two straight and three of four games.

Rockies starter Tyler Chatwood was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs while allowing just five hits over six scoreless innings.

"Tyler keeps the ball down and has great stuff," said Rockies manager Walt Weiss. "He's a good athlete. I didn't know he could swing like that. He put on a show out there."

Jerry Hairston hit a two-run homer for L.A., which had won five of seven games. Starter Ted Lilly lasted only three innings and allowed five runs -- four earned -- to absorb the loss.

Hyun-Jin Ryu hopes to close out a successful month when he takes the ball for the Dodgers Tuesday. The Korean rookie has registered back-to-back no- decisions and previously toed the rubber in last Thursday's 3-2 win against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

Ryu limited the hosting Mets to a run and three hits in seven innings, striking out eight and walking three. Ryu, who is 2-1 with a 3.41 earned run average in five starts, has lasted at least six innings in every start this season. He's also fanned six or more batters in four straight outings.

The lefty will get his first taste of the Colorado rivalry tonight.

Colorado has a left-hander of its own toeing the rubber Tuesday as Jorge De La Rosa will make his sixth start of the season. De La Rosa was aiming for three straight winning starts, but was stopped at Arizona last Thursday in a 3-2 setback against the Diamondbacks.

De La Rosa surrendered three runs -- two earned -- and a season-high seven hits in six innings, falling to 2-2 in five starts with a 2.86 ERA. He has lasted at least six innings in four straight starts.

The southpaw hasn't fared well in his career against the Dodgers and is winless (0-7) in 13 games, nine of which have been starts, to go along with a 6.22 ERA (50 2/3 innings).

Colorado and Los Angeles are meeting for the first time this season and the Dodgers took the series in 2012 by a 10-8 count.
