Milone, A's continue set with Indians

(Sports Network) - Tommy Milone tries to avoid a career-worst fourth straight loss on Tuesday when the Oakland Athletics continue their four-game set with the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field.

Milone lost his third straight start on Wednesday to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, as he allowed four runs and seven hits in seven innings. He did strike out 10 batters, but still fell to 3-3 on the year to go along with a 3.69 ERA.

"I wanted to go as deep into the game as I could," Milone said. "The bullpen has been out there a lot the last few days. I needed to go out and throw strikes. I felt good throughout the game, it was just a few bad pitches."

Milone has faced the Indians twice and is 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA.

Cleveland, meanwhile, will counter with righty Zach McAllister, who is 2-3 with a 3.30 ERA. McAllister beat the Philadelphia Phillies his last time out, surrendering two runs and five hits in seven innings. He was also backed by seven home runs.

"That was a lot of fun," McAllister said after that April 30 start. "I think any pitcher will tell you they're happy to have offense like that, and they'd gladly have more time in the dugout with longer innings than not having any runs and going out there to try to pitch."

McAllister is 0-1 in two starts versus the A's and has given up nine runs in 10 1/3 innings.

Cleveland drew first blood in this series on Monday, as Asdrubal Cabrera cracked two of the Indians' four home runs behind a strong outing from Ubaldo Jimenez in a 7-3 triumph.

Jimenez (2-2) pitched 5 2/3 innings of two-run, four-hit baseball while striking out a season-high eight batters.

Jason Kipnis and Mark Reynolds also went yard for the Indians, winners in seven of their last eight. Michael Brantley and Jason Giambi each had two hits while Giambi contributed two RBI.

"We got some guys with some pop," Reynolds said. "We're just going out there and having fun."

Yoenis Cespedes hit his sixth home run of the year for Oakland while Brandon Moss had two hits and a run scored. Jarrod Parker (1-5) fanned seven but allowed four runs, all on solo homers, and seven hits.

"(Parker) just got some balls up," manager Bob Melvin said. "They had good swings on them and hit them out of the ballpark."

Oakland was 8-2 last season versus the Indians.
