Astros shoot for fifth straight win and sweep of White Sox
Jun 17, 2013 - 2:46 PM (Sports Network) - The Houston Astros eye a fifth straight win on Monday when they try to complete a four-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox at Minute Maid Park.Houston's recent strong play continued on Sunday, as Jason Castro hit a two- run homer and Matt Dominguez added a three-run double to help the Astros earn a 5-4 victory.
Dallas Keuchel (4-3) tossed 6 1/3 strong innings and allowed two runs on four hits for Houston, who had lost six in a row prior to its current tear.
Houston starters have carried the team of late, posting a 3.03 ERA since May 15.
"Again, when you talk about winning series, it starts with starting pitching and that allows you to match up your bullpen," Houston manager Bo Porter said. "We've done that consistently to where it's more than a trend, it's our team."
Jeff Keppinger drove in one run for the White Sox, who have lost four straight overall and 12 of their last 13 away from home. The team hasn't been swept in a four-game series since Aug. 1-4, 2011, against the New York Yankees.
Chicago starter Hector Santiago (2-5) allowed three runs and five hits over 5 1/3 innings, though he did strike out eight in the setback.
"It's not like we're being blown out," said Santiago. "It's one-run games. You get one hit and it's a different ballgame."
Getting the call for the Astros on Monday will be righty Bud Norris, who is 5-6 with a 3.47 ERA. Norris lost his second straight start on Tuesday in Seattle, despite a decent showing that saw him allow three runs and five hits in seven innings.
The Astros, though, have scored just one run in his last two starts.
Chicago, meanwhile, will counter with lefty Jose Quintana, who is 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA. Quintana, though, hasn't received a decision his last three times out with the White Sox losing each of those games. Against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday he surrendered four runs (2 earned) and six hits in 6 1/3 innings of a 7-5 loss.
Houston had taken two of three from the White Sox last season.
