Rox hope to cap set vs. Reds with another offensive showcase

The suddenly prodigious Colorado Rockies try to end a three-game road series at Great American Ball Park with another offensive push on Sunday afternoon, when they meet the host Cincinnati Reds.

The Rockies were blanked on Thursday and scored just three runs Friday before erupting for 16 hits -- including 11 for extra bases -- in an 11-2 rout in Saturday's middle game with the Reds.

The 11 runs marked the eighth time in 2014 that Colorado reached double digits, and the extra-base hit total equaled the season-high in the majors and were the most for the team since it notched 12 in 2010.

The Rockies had back-to-back home runs from Corey Dickerson and Charlie Blackmon to begin the game, the first time Colorado had done that in 18 years.

"Dickerson's got a pretty good track record of swinging the bat," manager Walt Weiss said. "He can hit. It's nice to be able to get an opportunity to get him into the lineup. He's worked pretty hard."

Dickerson finished with two home runs, four hits, four runs batted in and three runs scored, while Blackmon added an RBI double to go with his three runs scored.

Justin Morneau cracked a two-run blast and Troy Tulowitzki added a solo shot in the triumph.

Jordan Lyles (5-0) struck out eight and surrendered two runs on four hits and four walks over six frames to notch the win.

Alfredo Simon (4-2) was roughed up for five runs on eight hits over just three frames for the Reds.

Colorado's Juan Nicasio gets the start in search of a third straight winning start.

He was a 12-1 winner over Texas on Tuesday and has allowed just five hits in 12 innings in the last two outings.

He was 0-1 in two starts against the Reds in 2013.

Cincinnati starts Homer Bailey, who allowed three runs in six innings on Tuesday in a game the Reds ultimately lost, 4-3, to the Boston Red Sox.

He's made six career starts against Colorado and won once, while compiling a 5.13 ERA.
