Saunders, Angels look to improve on stellar home mark

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim look to improve on their major league-best home record in the middle game of a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

Jered Weaver threw six solid innings and the Angels got RBI singles from Vladimir Guerrero, Maicer Izturis and Orlando Cabrera in a 3-0 win on Friday.

With the win, Anaheim improved to 43-19 at home and maintained its one-game lead over the Seattle Mariners (73-53) in the American League West.

Joe Saunders (7-1, 3.25 ERA) looks to keep the home success going. Saunders has pitched well at home, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.31 ERA in five starts here. On Sunday, Saunders held a potent Boston lineup to just one run and six hits in 7 2/3 innings in a 3-1 win.

Meanwhile, Shaun Marcum (10-5, 3.65) looks to bounce back from his worst start in almost two months. The converted reliever had won five straight starts before being blasted for six runs and nine hits in three innings in a 6-4 loss to Oakland on Monday.

That marked the shortest outing Marcum suffered since he allowed eight runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings in a 9-4 loss to Cleveland on July 7.
