Final
Dodgers down Rockies
Jun 18, 2014 - 7:36 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Carlos Triunfel replaced shortstop Hanley Ramirez in the seventh inning and proceeded to smack his first career homer as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies, 4-2, in the middle test of a three-game set.Ramirez, who cracked a two-run shot, left after taking a hard-hit grounder off his right hand.
Zack Greinke (9-3) allowed a run on six hits and two walks while fanning five over six innings for the Dodgers, who have won four of their last five games. Matt Kemp hit a solo blast in the triumph.
"It definitely feels good," Greinke said of his start. "You leave everything you have out there."
Corey Dickerson and Troy Tulowitzki singled to begin the ninth, but Kenley Jansen recorded the final three outs in succession to notch his 20th save of the year.
Jhoulys Chacin (1-5) surrendered three runs on seven hits and three walks over six frames for Colorado, which has dropped the first two games of this series following a five-game winning streak.
"I thought he battled," Dickerson said of Chacin. "He had a great tempo. I wish we could get some more runs there to supporting, but he kept us close."
The Dodgers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after plating two runs in the third and another in the fourth.
Miguel Rojas singled to begin the fourth and Ramirez hammered his opposite- field blast over the glove of a leaping Charlie Blackmon and the wall in right.
Kemp's leadoff shot to left-center in the fourth gave Los Angeles its three- run cushion.
The Rockies chipped away at the deficit, plating a run in the sixth and another in the seventh to get within one, but it could've been much more.
Tulowitzki singled and Justin Morneau walked to begin the sixth and a Drew Stubbs base hit loaded the bases. Tulowitzki scored on Wilin Rosario's sacrifice fly to right, while Morneau and Stubbs each moved up a base to put runners on second and third with one away.
Greinke, though, struck out Ryan Wheeler and D.J. LeMahieu grounded out to end the threat.
J.P. Howell replaced Greinke in the seventh and served up a double to Josh Rutledge to start the frame. After Charlie Blackmon grounded out to advance Rutledge to third, Dickerson laced a sharp one-hop grounder off the glove of Ramirez, which brought home Rutledge. Dickerson advanced to second as the ball trickled into center.
Brandon League took over on the mound and got Tulowitzki to ground out. Morneau was then intentionally walked, but the inning was extended when Dee Gordon was unable to field Stubbs' bouncer to second, which loaded the bases.
Rosario, however, rolled into a force out to end that scoring chance.
Triunfel launched his solo shot over the short wall in left with one out in the eighth to stake LA to a 4-2 margin.
Game Notes
Greinke lowered his ERA to 2.57 this season ... The Dodgers were 2-for-4 with runners in scoring position, while the Rockies finished 2-for-14 and left 13 men on base.
