Helton, Rockies go for fourth straight win

DENVER (Ticker) - Todd Helton will look to help the Colorado Rockies win their fourth consecutive game and remain in the playoff hunt as they host the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday in the finale of a three-game series.

The Rockies are in fourth place in the National League West, but sit just four games behind the division-leading San Diego Padres (76-62).

Helton has been the key in Colorado's recent surge, as the team has won five of its last six games. The 11-year veteran is 12-for-21 (.571) with six runs scored and two RBI.

Ubaldo Jimenez (3-2, 4.03 ERA) will get the start for the Rockies, who edged the Giants, 6-5, on Tuesday after Brad Hawpe hit a game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning.

The rookie righthander is 2-0 in his previous four starts. He allowed three runs and three hits in 6 2/3 innings, but did not factor in a 7-3 win at the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.

The Giants will counter with spot starter Kevin Correia (3-6, 3.77), who will be making just his fourth start of the season. The 26-year-old Correia has not lost a start this year.
