Rogers, Tigers face Royals

DETROIT (Ticker) - The Detroit Tigers will try to continue their playoff push when they meet the Kansas City Royals in the second game of a weekend series on Saturday.

Brandon Inge drove in the go-ahead run and Sean Casey homered as the Tigers snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-4 triumph on Friday.

Detroit is 4 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees (88-65) in the American League wild card race.

Detroit's Kenny Rogers (3-2, 4.24 ERA) is still seeking his first win since coming off the disabled list on September 5. Rogers gave up two runs in seven inning and was en route to breaking through until teammate Joel Zumaya allowed two runs in the eighth at Cleveland on Monday.

The 42-year-old lefthander has 20 career wins against Kansas City, which hammered Rogers for six runs and nine hits over 6 1/3 innings on July 20 here.

The Royals turn to Kyle Davies (2-6, 6.37), who has dropped his last three starts. Most recently, the righthander was tagged for six runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 frames in Monday's loss to the Chicago White Sox.

In his only appearance against Detroit, Davies allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings in a setback on June 23.
