Rangers hit four homers in rout of A's

Apr 10, 2015 - 12:37 AM Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Rougned Odor, Adrian Beltre, Shin-Soo Choo and Mitch Moreland each homered, while Nick Martinez tossed seven scoreless innings in the Texas Rangers' 10-1 rout of the Oakland Athletics on Thursday.

Moreland and Choo each had three RBI for the Rangers, who forced a split in this season-opening four-game series. Ryan Rua went 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Martinez (1-0) gave up four hits while striking out five and walking two. The right-hander appeared in 29 games (24 starts) for Texas last season and was 5-12 with a 4.55 ERA.

"We will look back at this at some point and think how significant it was to get out of here with a split," said Rangers manager Jeff Banister.

Marcus Semien drove in the lone run for the Athletics, who were limited to six hits. Kendall Graveman (0-1) allowed eight runs -- seven earned -- on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings in his first major league start.

"I didn't make a lot of pitches, didn't locate well, and they made me pay for it," said Graveman. "I gotta change speeds more, I gotta locate better and give my team a chance to win. I didn't do that today."

The Rangers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a pair of Oakland errors. Leonys Martin walked and Choo singled before both runners moved up one base on an errant pickoff attempt. Beltre then reached on a fielder's choice. On the play, catcher Stephen Vogt's error allowed Martin to score.

Prince Fielder hit an RBI single to center and Moreland added a sacrifice fly. Elvis Andrus grounded into an inning-ending double play.

Moreland hit a two-run homer to left-center field in the third.

Graveman ran into more trouble in the fourth. Odor was hit by a pitch and Carlos Corporan singled. After Martin struck out swinging, Choo smacked a 1-1 pitch over the wall in right. Evan Scribner then took over for Graveman.

Beltre and Odor hit solo homers in the seventh and eighth, respectively.

The A's finally got on the board in the eighth. Eric Sogard singled off Keone Kela and crossed the plate on Semien's double to left.
