Jimenez takes the hill in Toronto

Apr 22, 2015 - 10:59 AM (SportsNetwork.com) - Ubaldo Jimenez should be well rested on Wednesday when the Baltimore Orioles continue their three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

After throwing seven scoreless innings to beat the Blue Jays his first time out, Jimenez tossed another 3 2/3 scoreless innings against the Boston Red Sox on Friday, but was ejected without a warning after hitting Pablo Sandoval.

"I was shocked," Jimenez said of his first career ejection. "You don't see that happen every day, without any warning without any history with the player. First game of the series against Boston. There's no history, there's nothing. (Sandoval is) a good hitter and I am trying to go inside. Especially against a left-handed hitter, you aren't trying to go down, you are trying to go up. I had three walks. It's not like I had perfect command of my fastball. I was shocked."

Jimenez has faced the Blue Jays 10 times (9 starts) and is 4-3 with a 4.01 ERA.

Toronto, meanwhile, will turn to 22-year-old righty Aaron Sanchez, who has lost both of his starts this season and is pitching to a 6.23 ERA. Sanchez followed up a loss to Baltimore in his season debut by getting beat by Tampa Bay on Thursday, as he surrendered three runs and five hits with three walks in 5 1/3 innings.

Sanchez gave up three runs and seven hits - two home runs - in just 3 1/3 frames to the Jays on April 11.

Toronto's bats exploded on Tuesday, as Edwin Encarnacion bashed two home runs in a 13-6 rout of the Orioles.

Encarnacion's first blast started a six-run second inning for Toronto as the Blue Jays hammered Bud Norris for the second time already in 2015. Jose Bautista also homered, and Ryan Goins drove in three runs.

Norris (0-2) continued to struggle in the early going, this time getting charged with nine runs in 2 1/3 innings. In Baltimore's home opener on April 10, Norris allowed nine runs in three-plus innings.

"They made a lot of good swings on every mistake he made," said Orioles manager Buck Showalter. "Command has been an issue for him."

Mark Buehrle (3-0) allowed three runs in six innings. He also beat Norris in his first start of the season.

The Blue Jays took two of three from the Orioles earlier in the year.
