Ortiz, Sandoval homer as Red Sox beat Hernandez, M's

May 17, 2015 - 4:20 AM Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - David Ortiz and Pablo Sandoval hit solo homers as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Seattle Mariners, 4-2, on Saturday night.

Each team beat one another 2-1 over the first two of this four-game set, but Boston scored a pair of runs in the sixth to grab the lead for good.

Blake Swihart doubled home Xander Bogaerts and Brock Holt added an RBI groundout later in the inning to account for the final margin.

Rick Porcello (4-2) got the win after he went 6 2/3 innings and allowed two runs with six strikeouts. Koji Uehara pitched the ninth for his ninth save of the season.

"He's been on a solid run the last four or five outings for us," Red Sox manager John Farrell said of Porcello.

Felix Hernandez (6-1) took his first loss of 2015, yielding four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts over six innings. Hernandez pitched through an ankle injury.

"He tweaked his ankle a little bit," said Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon. "Told me he was okay, but I'm not sure it didn't affect him."

Brad Miller, who hit two solo homers as Seattle's lone source of offense, clubbed his third of the season to give the M's a 1-0 lead after one inning.

Sandoval went yard in the second and the Red Sox moved in front in the third on Ortiz's fifth homer of the season.

Miller then tied it up in the fifth with a shot to right field.
