Cards eye another win in opener with Rockies

Jun 8, 2015 - 2:35 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Cardinals look to keep the momentum going when they visit the Colorado Rockies Monday in the first of three straight matchups at Coors Field.

The Cardinals took three of four games from the Los Angeles Dodgers and secured a fourth straight series win with Sunday night's 4-2 victory.

Jhonny Peralta went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, while Mark Reynolds added two hits and an RBI for St. Louis, which won for the 11th time in the last 14 tries.

"It's good to come in here and win three games," said Peralta. "I feel good about what I'm doing to help us win."

Kevin Siegrist picked up the win in relief, Lance Lynn allowed two runs in five innings and Trevor Rosenthal closed the door in the ninth for his 19th save.

John Lackey toes the rubber for the Cardinals Monday and has a 4-3 record with a 2.93 earned run average in 11 starts. Lackey has won two straight starts and lasted seven innings in a 7-4 win over Milwaukee on Wednesday, charged with three runs and 10 hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Lackey is 0-2 in five road assignments and 2-1 with a 4.55 ERA in four career starts against Colorado.

The Rockies are 3-4 on a 10-game homestand and lost two of three matchups with the Miami Marlins this weekend.

Colorado suffered a 3-2 loss in 10 innings on Sunday, as Adeiny Hechavarria's solo home run in the top of the 10th proved to be the difference. Boone Logan served up the home run, Carlos Gonzalez went deep and Kyle Kendrick gave up two runs in seven innings for the Rockies.

"We've been inconsistent at home," said Rockies manager Walt Weiss. "We need to play a lot better at home."

The Rockies are 11-17 at Coors Field.

David Hale gets the nod for Colorado Monday night and will make his third start of the season. He defeated San Francisco in his season debut on May 23, then did not factor in the outcome of a 9-8 loss to Los Angeles on Tuesday, allowing four runs in six innings.

Hale has made two relief appearances against the Cardinals in his career and has no record or ERA in four innings of work.

The Cardinals went 5-1 against the Rockies last season and the two clubs will meet for four games at Busch Stadium from July 30 to Aug. 2.
