Gallardo solid as Rangers beat Dodgers

Jun 16, 2015 - 5:42 AM Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Yovani Gallardo tossed seven scoreless innings and the Texas Rangers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 on Monday.

Gallardo (6-6) gave up four hits while striking out four and walking three for the Rangers, who have won three of four. Rougned Odor went 3-for-3 and hit a two-run single during a four-run sixth.

Odor was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock prior to the game when outfielder Delino DeShields was put on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.

"He belongs here," Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos said of Odor. "It was hard for him to go down to the minors, but he took it like a man."

Yasmani Grandal hit a solo homer in the eighth for the Dodgers. Carlos Frias (4-4) allowed four runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks over 5 1/3 innings.

In the sixth, Frias walked the first two batters before consecutive RBI singles by Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland. Following a sacrifice bunt, Adam Liberatore took over on the hill and Odor greeted him with a two-run single to left-center field.

"Every pitcher has one of those games where they're dealing and all of a sudden everything goes out the window," Grandal said of Frias' sixth.

Rangers reliever Tanner Scheppers gave up a homer to Grandal on the first pitch he threw after taking over in the eighth. The Dodgers put men on first and second later in the inning, but Yasiel Puig struck out swinging and Adrian Gonzalez fouled out.

Puig snapped the bat over his leg in frustration, then threw it in the tunnel leading to the clubhouse.

Shawn Tolleson tossed a scoreless ninth for his ninth save of the season.
