Sizemore, Indians after sweep of White Sox

CLEVELAND (Ticker) - The Cleveland Indians look to complete a season-opening three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.

After outslugging Chicago, 10-8, in the first game Monday, Fausto Carmona pitched seven solid innings to lead the reigning division champions to a 7-2 victory on Wednesday. The righthander allowed one run, four hits and four walks while striking out four.

Grady Sizemore supplied the offense, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Asdrubal Cabrera also had three hits and a pair of RBI for the Indians, who moved to 2-0 in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1954-55.

Cleveland will turn to veteran Paul Byrd, who went 15-8 with a 4.59 ERA in 2007.

Byrd will be opposed by young lefthander John Danks, who went 6-13 with a 5.50 ERA in his rookie season last year, giving up 28 home runs in 139 innings.

Chicago's Jim Thome homered twice in the season opener but went 0-for-4 on Wednesday, while catcher A.J. Pierzynski went 3-for-4 scoring both runs in the loss.
