Burnett, Blue Jays aim for rare sweep in Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) -- A.J. Burnett will try and bounce back from a rough start and help the Toronto Blue Jays complete a rare three-game road sweep of the Texas Rangers on Sunday.

Toronto has struggled in Texas historically, and is looking to sweep the Rangers here for the first time in nearly 23 years.

The Blue Jays got past one major hurdle on Saturday as Roy Halladay overcame his struggles in Texas. Toronto's ace tossed his first complete game of the season, allowing just one run and six hits in a 4-1 victory.

Prior to that, Halladay had been 3-3 with a 7.00 ERA in his last 10 appearances in Texas. Halladay's struggles here go hand-in-hand with Toronto's. The Blue Jays have not won three straight here since April 26-28, 1985.

In order to finish off the sweep Toronto, will need Burnett (1-0, 6.75 ERA) to be much better than his last time out. The righthander was pounded for six runs and 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings of a 9-8 loss to Oakland on Tuesday.

Texas will counter with righthander Scott Feldman (NR), who will be making his first career start. Feldman went 1-2 with a 5.77 ERA in 29 games out of the bullpen last season.
