Carmona looks to continue dominance over Royals

Apr 23, 2008 - 1:13 PM Cleveland (8-12) at Kansas City (9-11) 8:10 pm EDT

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - Fausto Carmona has not had much trouble on the hill against the Kansas City Royals.

Carmona looks to guide the Cleveland Indians past the Royals on Wednesday in the second of their three-game series.

The righthanded Carmona (2-1, 1.96 ERA) has been almost untouchable through seven career appearances - five starts - against Kansas City, as he owns a 3-0 mark with a 2.95 ERA.

Most recently, the 25-year-old yielded one run and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings for an 11-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.

In the series opener on Tuesday, reigning American League Cy Young Award winner C.C. Sabathia threw six scoreless innings to get his first win of the season as the Indians hammered the Royals, 15-1.

"It definitely feels good to have a start like this," said Sabathia, who had been rocked for nine runs in each of his two previous starts. "I just want to keep going out and keep building off this."

Brett Tomko (1-2, 3.60) takes the ball for the Dodgers. Tomko hopes to break through after two straight losses, including a 5-3 setback at Anaheim last Thursday.
