Power threats battle as Brewers host Phillies

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - Prince Fielder looks to build on his first multi-home run game of the season on Thursday as the Milwaukee Brewers conclude a brief two-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fielder, who hit 50 home runs last season, hit just one home run in his first 68 at-bats prior to blasting a pair in Tuesday's 5-4 victory. Fielder's second home run of the game gave the Brewers the lead in the eighth.

Fielder has gone 5-for-7 with two home runs and five RBI in his last two games to raise his average to .264 (19-for-72).

Jamie Moyer (1-1, 4.79 ERA) will try and slow the suddenly-hot Fielder. Moyer allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings of a 4-2 loss to the New York Mets on Saturday.

While Fielder is just starting to warm up, Chase Utley has been scorching hot. Utley hit his major-league leading 10th home run on Wednesday - his seventh in as many games.

Utley is hitting .483 (14-for-29) during that stretch, and it could not come at a better time with Ryan Howard slumping and Jimmy Rollins on the disabled list.

Meanwhile, Jeff Suppan (1-0, 4.13) gets the ball for the Brewers, who have won two straight.

Suppan will try and end his struggles against the Philadelphia. The righthander has lost four of his last five starts vs. the Phillies, and is just 3-5 with a 6.18 ERA in 10 games against them.
