Royals looking to sweep Blue Jays
Apr 27, 2008 - 1:31 PM Toronto (10-15) at Kansas City (11-13) ,2:10 pm EDTKANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - Jose Guillen and the Kansas City Royals will hope to complete a three-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.
Guillen homered to lead the Royals to a 2-1 triumph over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
The club's primary offensive addition in the offseason, Guillen led off the sixth inning with his second home run of the year, a 396-foot shot barely fair down the left field line to snap a 1-1 tie.
The 31-year-old Guillen still is struggling with his new team so far this season, batting just .185 with 10 RBI and 24 strikeouts.
Royals starter Gil Meche (1-3, 8.00 ERA) is coming off a shaky outing, allowing eight runs on nine hits and a walk over 3 1/3 innings during Tuesday's 15-1 loss to the Cleveland Indians.
The Blue Jays will counter with righthander Jesse Litsch (2-1, 6.16), who is also coming off a sub-par outing.
The 23-year-old Litsch surrendered five runs and eight hits over 3 1/3 frames in a 6-4 setback to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.
