Dodgers eyeing three-game sweep of Rockies

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - Esteban Loaiza will take the mound Sunday as the Los Angeles Dodgers attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies.

Loaiza (1-2, 4.32 ERA) will hope to get the run support the Dodgers supplied in Saturday's 11-3 victory over the Rockies. Matt Kemp blasted a grand slam and drove in five runs as part of a 10-run first inning.

It tied the most runs scored in a single frame by the Dodgers since they moved to Los Angeles.

The Brooklyn Dodgers tallied 15 runs in the first inning on May 21, 1952 against the Cincinnati Reds. Los Angeles had scored 10 runs in a frame on three other occasions, the most recent coming vs. the San Diego Padres on September 13, 1977.

Loaiza lasted just three innings in his last outing, allowing two runs and four hits in Tuesday's 8-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

He will be opposed by Jeff Francis (0-2, 5.68), a 17-game winner last season who is still looking for his first victory of 2008.

Francis did not receive a decision his last time out, giving up four runs on six hits and four walks over seven frames in an 8-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.
