Meche looks for revenge against Indians

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Kansas City Royals pitcher Gil Meche didn't come away smiling the last time he faced the Cleveland Indians.

Meche aims to exact a measure of revenge Sunday when the Kansas City Royals visit the Indians.

On April 22, Meche was pounded for season highs in runs (8) and hits (9) through just 3 1/3 innings of a 15-1 blowout loss to the Indians.

The 29-year-old righthander (1-4, 7.22 ERA) has been dominated by Cleveland, posting just a 2-7 record with a 6.10 ERA over 13 lifetime appearances in the series.

Billy Butler's RBI single during a four-run seventh inning was the key hit Saturday as the Royals rallied for a 4-2 victory over the Indians.

Cleveland's Aaron Laffey (0-1, 6.35) tries to capture his first win of the season after giving up four runs over 5 2/3 frames of a 5-2 loss to the Yankees in his debut.

The 23-year-old lefthander's chances of breaking through looks good, as he has been solid through three career starts against the Royals, going 2-1 with a 3.63 ERA.
