Red-hot Rays look for sixth straight win

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) - The Tampa Bay Rays will be looking for their sixth straight win when they host the New York Yankees on Tuesday.

The Rays have come of age this season, moving six games over .500 for the first time in franchise history Monday with 7-1 win over the Yankees in the series opener.

Matt Garza allowed just five hits in seven scoreless innings and Dioner Navarro drove in a pair of runs for Tampa Bay, which pulled to within one-half game of Boston for the American League East Division lead.

New York has dropped four of its last six games, combining to score nine runs in the four losses.

The Yankees will send ace Chien-Ming Wang (6-1, 3.12 ERA) to the mound Tuesday. The righthander suffered his first loss of the season May 7 at Cleveland, allowing three runs and five hits in seven innings as New York fell, 3-0.

Wang dominated the Rays in a meeting on April 6, allowing just four hits in six scoreless innings to earn a win.

Tampa Bay will counter with righthander Edwin Jackson (2-3, 4.04). The 24-year-old was sharp last Wednesday at Toronto, allowing six hits in eight scoreless frames, but did not factor in the decision as the Rays won, 8-3, in extra innings.

Jackson has pitched against the Yankees twice this season, earning a win at Yankee Stadium on April 6 and suffering a loss at Tropicana Field on April 15.
