Webb looks to rebound as Diamondbacks visit Braves

May 26, 2008 - 1:23 PM Arizona (30-20) at Atlanta (27-23) 1:10 pm EDT

ATLANTA (Ticker) - Brandon Webb looks to bounce back from his first loss of the season when the Arizona Diamondbacks wrap up a four-game series with the Atlanta Braves on Monday.

Webb (9-1) won his first nine starts before a 3-1 setback to the Florida Marlins on Wednesday. He allowed three runs in seven innings.

The 29-year-old righthander has had success against Atlanta in his career, going 2-1 with a 1.17 ERA in five starts. The success includes two complete game shutouts, including a 4-0 victory at Atlanta on August 17, 2007. The win was part of Webb's 42 consecutive scoreless innings streak last season.

The Braves will counter with righthander Jair Jurrjens (5-3, 2.64).

Jurrjens, who was acquired from the Detroit Tigers in an offseason trade for shortstop Edgar Renteria, earned the win in Atlanta's 11-4 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old is 4-0 at Turner Field this season and is making his first career start against the Diamondbacks.

Arizona has won two of the first three games in the series, including a 9-3 triumph on Sunday. Eric Byrnes hit his first career grand slam in the fifth inning.
