Angels begin six-game homestand vs. Tigers

May 26, 2008 - 1:34 PM Detroit (21-29) at LA Angels (30-22) 9:05 pm EDT

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim open a six-game homestand on Monday with the opener of a three-game set against the Detroit Tigers.

Anaheim sends Jon Garland (5-3, 4.34 ERA) to the hills in search of his second straight win. Last time out, Garland gave up three runs and eight hits in six innings of Wednesday's 4-3 victory at Toronto.

The righthander has been solid against the Tigers, holding a 13-6 record with a 4.08 ERA through 24 career outings. Garland also has three complete games against Detroit.

Veteran Kenny Rogers (4-4, 6.66) counters for Detroit, which has won four of its last six games. The 43-year-old Rogers gave up four runs in 5 1/3 frames in a 9-4 win over Seattle in his last start.

The 20-year veteran lefthander went 1-1 with a lowly 1.29 ERA against the Angels last season.

Anaheim and Detroit faced off three times earlier this season, with the Angels winning two games at Comerica Park at the end of April.
