Phillies visit Marlins seeking fifth-straight win
Jun 10, 2008 - 1:23 PM Philadelphia (39-26) at Florida (34-29) 7:10 p.m. EDTMIAMI (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Phillies go for their fifth straight win when they open a three-game series against the Florida Marlins on Tuesday.
The Phillies improved to 12-2 over their last 14 games by completing a three-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves with a 6-3 victory on Sunday.
The win, combined with a Marlins loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Monday, gives Philadelphia a four-game lead atop the National League East Division.
Brett Myers (3-7, 5.13 ERA) tries to give the Phillies an even bigger lead in the division when he takes the mound on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old righthander allowed just one run in 7 1/3 innings, but walked six, suffering his fifth loss in his last six starts during Wednesday's 2-0 setback to the Reds.
Ricky Nolasco (5-4, 5.05) counters for the Marlins after having a personal three-game win streak snapped during his last start - a 7-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Thursday.
