Moyer, Phillies blank Marlins

MIAMI (Ticker) -- Jamie Moyer continued his mastery of the Florida Marlins on Thursday.

The 45-year-old allowed two hits in eight innings to help the Philadelphia Phillies salvage the final contest of the three-game series with a 3-0 triumph over the Marlins.

Moyer (7-3), who has won all nine starts in his career against Florida, struck out three and walked one en route to his fifth consecutive victory.

"He pitches good against them and his record indicates that," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "They are young, aggressive and they like fastballs."

"I rely on my defense," Moyer said. "I made a lot of good pitches and we made the plays."

Brad Lidge struck out a pair in the ninth to notch his 18th save in as many chances this season.

Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Pat Burrell, and Pedro Felix all had two hits for the Phillies.

"You want to score as many as runs as you can, but the bats weren't swinging too well," Utley said.

With the game scoreless in the sixth inning, Scott Olsen (4-3) uncorked a wild pitch that plated Rollins and allowed Shane Victorino to advance from second to third. In an attempt to get Rollins at the plate, catcher Matt Treanor's subsequent throw eluded Olsen, permitting the speedy Hawaiian to score as well.

"I was pretty disappointed with myself," Treanor said. "That's my gig and I need to make that play."

Olsen allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings. He also walked one and struck out seven.

"Overall, it was good, not great," Olsen said. "Moyer pitched great. The (wild) pitch, I just didn't want to hang it so my goal was to throw it down. You can't block everything, but he blocks most of them."

Olsen did end Moyer's no-hit bid in the sixth, lining a single off Utley's glove.

Jayson Werth's run-scoring single in the eighth capped the scoring.
