Struggling Braves look to end road woes
Jun 13, 2008 - 4:21 PM Atlanta (32-35) at LA Angels (41-26), 10:05 pm EDTANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Braves hope to snap a six-game losing streak Friday when they open a three-game interleague set with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
The Braves are a major league-worst 7-24 away from home this season and tied the major league record for the most consecutive one-run road defeats at 21 after losing, 3-2, in 11 innings at the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.
The record is shared with the 2000-01 Kansas City Royals.
The Braves hope Jo-Jo Reyes (2-4, 4.80 ERA) can end the slide when he takes the mound Friday.
The 23-year-old lefthander has lost his last three decisions, including last Saturday's 6-2 setback to Philadelphia. Reyes allowed four runs but pitched a career-high 7 1/3 innings.
The Angels, on the other hand, have won nine of their last 11 after taking two out of three from the Tampa Bay Rays earlier in the week.
Jon Garland (6-3, 3.87) takes the hill for Anaheim, looking to continue his run of solid starts.
The righthander has allowed three runs or less in his last seven outings and has not lost since April 28. Garland earned the win in the Angels' 5-3 triumph last Saturday, striking out a season-high eight while allowing two runs over seven innings.
