Interleague helping Twins get on track

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- A dose of the National League may be exactly what the Minnesota Twins needed at the end of a 10-game road trip.

The Twins go for their second straight win on Saturday when they continue a three-game interleague series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

After going just 1-6 and surrendering 58 earned runs in 57 innings over its first seven games of a 10-game road trip, Minnesota bounced back in the series opener Friday, claiming a 10-2 victory.

Twins starter Kevin Slowey pitched eight strong innings and collected his first two career hits during Friday's win, allowing just two base runners through his first six frames.

Rookie Glen Perkins (2-2, 4.58 ERA) tries to duplicate Slowey's performance on Saturday when he takes the mound.

Perkins, 25, has pitched into the fifth inning just once in his last three starts, going 0-1 while surrendering 13 runs - 12 earned - in 13 1/3 frames over that span.

Jeff Suppan (4-4, 3.78) goes for his third straight win when he counters for the Brewers.

The veteran righthander has been solid at home this season, posting a 2-0 record and a 1.50 ERA in five starts here.
