Roberts, Orioles look to keep rolling vs. Brewers
Jun 21, 2008 - 1:25 PM Baltimore (38-34) at Milwaukee (39-34), 7:05 pm EDTMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Brian Roberts will attempt to extend his hitting streak to nine games when the Baltimore Orioles square off against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.
Roberts, who has hit safely in 16 of his previous 17 games, is batting .346 with a home run and 11 RBI this month.
He leads the Orioles with a .289 batting average on the season, hitting five blasts and driving in 29 runs with 45 runs scored and 20 steals.
Roberts had three hits and Aubrey Huff belted a pair of solo homers as Baltimore beat Milwaukee, 8-5, at Miller Park on Friday in the opener of the three-game interleague series. It was the fourth straight win for the Orioles, who saw closer George Sherrill secure his 25th save.
Brewers starter Seth McClung (4-3, 3.94 ERA) will make his sixth start of the season, hoping to shutdown Roberts and the rest of the Orioles' red-hot offense, which has scored 23 runs during the club's winning streak.
Friday's setback ended Milwaukee's four-game winning streak, which started the last time McClung took the mound. The righthander gave up two runs and four hits with four strikeouts over six innings during Monday's 4-2 triumph over the Minnesota Twins.
Baltimore will counter with righthander Daniel Cabrera (5-2, 4.45), who has not recorded a win since May 20.
