Giants trying to build on comeback win

Jun 21, 2008 - 1:37 PM San Francisco (32-42) at Kansas City (31-43), 7:10 pm EDT

KANSAS CITY (Ticker) -- The San Francisco Giants will look to record back-to-back wins for the first time in nearly two weeks when they meet the Kansas City Royals on Saturday in the second contest of a three-game interleague series.

Ray Durham's bases-clearing double helped the Giants to a 9-4 comeback victory over the Royals on Friday. San Francisco pounded out 13 hits and scored eight runs with two outs to win for just the third time in their last 10 games and post just their second interleague victory of the season.

Giants starter Kevin Correia (1-4, 5.17 ERA) will make his second start since returning from the disabled list with a strained left oblique.

The righthander was not very impressive in his first start back, surrendering five runs and seven hits with two walks over 5 1/3 frames in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics.

The Royals, who had their five-game winning streak snapped Friday, will send righthander Gil Meche (4-8, 5.12) to the mound in this one.

Meche ended a personal three-game losing skid in Monday's 8-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. He gave up three runs and four hits with a season-high 10 strikeouts.
