Webb seeks 12th win as Diamondbacks face Marlins

MIAMI (Ticker) -- Brandon Webb looks to record his major league-best 12th win of the season when the Arizona Diamondbacks meet the Florida Marlins on Saturday in the second contest of a three-game series.

Webb (11-4, 3.23 ERA) is winless over his last three starts since picking up win No. 11, going 0-2 with a 7.40 ERA over that stretch. The 29-year-old ace gave up five runs - four earned - and eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts over seven innings during Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

A former Cy Young winner, the righthanded sinkerballer has lost four of his last six decisions after starting the campaign with a 9-0 record.

Webb will be opposed by lefthander Andrew Miller (5-6, 5.07), who surrendered five runs - four earned - and seven hits over four frames in Sunday's 7-1 setback to the Oakland Athletics.

The Marlins defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 3-1, on Friday in the series opener. Cody Ross hit his 13th home run of the season and Jorge Cantu smacked a two-run double for Florida, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

Arizona has lost six of its last seven contests.
