Webb, Lincecum set to clash in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have to like their chances to win every time Brandon Webb takes the mound. Then again, the same can be said when it is Tim Lincecum's turn in the San Francisco Giants' rotation.

Two of the National League's top Cy Young Award candidates square off on Saturday when the Diamondbacks continue their three-game series against the Giants.

Webb (13-4, 3.11 ERA) is tied for the NL lead in wins and ranks near the top of the league in ERA and strikeouts (116). While the 2006 NL Cy Young Award winner's effectiveness has fallen off a bit since his spectacular 9-0 start, Arizona is 14-7 when Webb starts this season.

Even though he hasn't matched the sinkerballer in the win column, Lincecum (11-3, 2.79) has been every bit as dominant, leading the league with 143 strikeouts while ranking in the top five in victories and ERA - no small feat for a team that finds itself 16 games under .500.

The Giants are 13-7 when Lincecum starts, but the team's struggles have dragged the righthander down lately. He surrendered five runs and six hits over six frames in Sunday's 7-4 defeat against Milwaukee.

Lincecum will have the chance to bounce back against Arizona - a team he is 2-0 against with a 2.14 ERA in three career outings.
