Orioles look to keep rolling vs. Yankees
Jul 29, 2008 - 1:04 PM Baltimore (50-55) at NY Yankees (58-47), 7:05 pm EDTBRONX, New York (Ticker) -- After setting the tone with plenty of offense during the series opener, the Baltimore Orioles continue their three-game set against the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
The Orioles drilled the Yankees, 13-4, in Monday's series opener, picking up just their sixth win in the last 20 games. The club equaled a season-high with 17 hits and posted their highest scoring output since August 19, 2006 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Yankees, meanwhile, have lost two in a row after rattling off eight straight victories since the All-Star break.
New York, which has been out-scored 22-6 in the last two games, got even more bad news by learning catcher Jorge Posada will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder.
Baltimore starter Daniel Cabrera (6-6, 4.86 ERA) will try to help his struggling club win their third straight after dropping six of seven.
The erratic righthander had a rough outing on Thursday against the Blue Jays, allowing seven runs and 11 hits in five frames.
Darrell Rasner (5-7, 4.83) takes the mound for the Yankees with hopes of continuing his success at home. This season, he is 3-2 with a 3.44 ERA in six starts at Yankee Stadium, offset by a 2-5 record and 6.25 ERA in seven outings on the road.
The righthander is coming off a solid effort against the Minnesota Twins last Tuesday in which he allowed two runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings.
