Dodgers try to end slide, gain ground on Diamondbacks

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers are falling out of the playoff hunt ... quickly.

The Dodgers attempt to end an eight-game losing streak on Saturday when they face the division-leading Arizona Diamondbacks.

Los Angeles, which has lost 10 of its previous 11 contests, has fallen 4 1/2 games behind Arizona in the National League West.

Adam Dunn and Stephen Drew each drove in two runs as the Diamondbacks used a pair of rallies to extend the Dodgers' misery with a 9-3 victory Friday.

"It is always nice to get another game but we have to play better," said Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin, who was ejected for arguing a fan interference call in the fifth inning.

Dan Haren (14-6, 3.10 ERA) takes the mound for Arizona, making Los Angeles' task even harder. The righthander is looking to win his third consecutive decision. He is 6-1 over his last eight starts.

Haren will be opposed by Chad Billingsley (12-10, 3.15), who had his three-game winning streak snapped in his last outing. The righthander gave up three runs on seven hits and five walks over six frames in Monday's 5-0 setback to the Philadelphia Phillies.
