Final/10
Rockies, Braves search for signs of life
Sep 9, 2008 - 12:56 PM Colorado (67-77) at Atlanta (62-82) 7:10 p.m. EDTATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Colorado Rockies are a year removed a from a historic comeback. If the last week is any indication, they won't repeat the feat this season.
The Rockies look to begin a playoff push against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.
After falling behind winning 21 of 22 games to streak into the playoffs and all the way to the World Series in 2007, Colorado dug itself a similar hole this season. But if they have a similar streak in them this season, the Rockies are taking their time.
They are 4-5 over their last nine games after dropping two of three to the Houston Astros over the weekend and sit six games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
The Braves have been even more disappointing, dropping seven of their last 10 games to fall 20 games below .500.
All-Star Aaron Cook (16-9, 4.10 ERA) will start for Colorado. The righthanded sinkerballer has struggled of late, going 2-3 with a 7.12 ERA over his last six starts.
The Braves will counter with their own struggling righthander, Jorge Campillo (7-7, 3.67). The rookie from Mexico is 1-3 with a 7.39 ERA over his last six outings.
