Gload homer leads to rally Royals to tie

Feb 28, 2009 - 11:32 PM SURPRISE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Ross Gload hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to help the Kansas City Royals tie the San Diego Padres, 2-2, in Cactus League action on Saturday.

The game was called after 10 innings.

Brian Bannister pitched two perfect innings as the Royals' starter.

Luke Hochevar gave up RBI doubles to Adrian Gonzalez and Cliff Floyd in the top of the fourth inning. Following the two-run fourth inning for the Padres, Royals relievers combined for six scoreless innings.

Oneil Perez was responsible the blown save, giving up one run and three hits in one inning.

Jose Guillen hit a solo home run to lead off the second for the Royals. His home run temporarily gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead.
