Sixers continue to roll in rout of Wizards

Jan 14, 2012 - 4:10 AM Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Jodie Meeks made six three-pointers and scored 26, and the Philadelphia 76ers moved to 5-0 at home for the first time in nine seasons Friday with a 120-89 victory over the Washington Wizards.

It was the first game of a home-and-home that finishes Saturday night in Washington.

Meeks missed just one of his 11 shots, a three-point try, and Lou Williams scored 19 points off the bench for the Sixers, who never trailed in the last 3 1/2 quarters and led by as many as 34.

"Jodie was red-hot, white-hot, I don't know what kind of hot," said Sixers head coach Doug Collins. "But he was on fire."

Rashard Lewis scored 16 points off the bench to lead Washington while fellow reserves Kevin Seraphin and Jordan Crawford added 12 points apiece.

The Sixers, in the midst of a stretch where they play 15 of 18 games at home, had a 14-point lead at halftime and stretched it to 34 three times while shooting almost 70 percent from the floor in the third quarter.

"They made a bunch of shots," said Wizards coach Flip Saunders. "I think they made nine straight shots at one point and we didn't make open shots."

Williams and center Spencer Hawes, who returned from a back injury, had eight points apiece in the quarter and the Sixers steadied the ship quickly after Washington cut their lead from 25 to 16 in about two minutes in the fourth quarter.

"We couldn't have been better," said Doug Collins.

They haven't been this good in their own building since the 2002-03 season, when they started 10-0 at home. They are 8-3 overall, their best start since going 10-1 in 2000-01.

Hawes, who missed Philadelphia's 85-79 loss at New York on Wednesday, ended with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand added 13 points apiece and Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner both scored 12.

The Sixers shot better than 55 percent, including 12-for-18 (66.7 percent) from three-point range, and have won seven of their last eight.

They took the lead for good on a Williams floater that made it 15-14 midway through the first quarter. They stretched the lead to 10 entering the second, 33-23, and it was in double digits for all but 1 1/2 minutes after that.

The Sixers shot better than 52 percent in the first half, including 75 percent in the first quarter, and took a 54-40 lead into halftime.
