Jazz race past shorthanded Clippers

Jan 18, 2012 - 5:30 AM Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Paul Millsap scored 20 points, leading the Jazz to a 108-79 pasting of the shorthanded Clippers on Tuesday.

C.J. Miles added 19 points and Devin Harris had 13 for the Jazz, winners of three straight and eight of their last nine. Alec Burks chipped in 11 while Al Jefferson and Enes Kanter both finished with 10.

"I enjoyed watching the guys having fun do what they do," Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin said. "They really worked together and they deserved to have some success."

The Clippers, playing their second straight game without Chris Paul, were paced by Caron Butler's 14 points. Courtney Fortson added 13 while Randy Foye chipped in 11. Blake Griffin scored 10 on 5-of-12 shooting and added 11 rebounds. LA has lost 16 straight in Salt Lake City.

Entering Tuesday, the Clippers had won three straight, including Monday's win over the Nets -- their first since Paul was sidelined with a strained left hamstring.

But the Jazz, who are 7-1 at home this season, made short work of LA. Millsap was sharp from the opening tip, scoring 10 first-quarter points on 5-of-6 shooting en route to a 29-17 lead.

The advantage was 52-41 at the half and ballooned to as many as 20 in the third, leading to a fourth devoid of drama and rife with reserves. Still, the Jazz did not relent, emphasizing the win with a scintillating bench effort.

With under five minutes remaining, Utah guard Jamaal Tinsely froze Travis Leslie on a breakaway, wrapping the ball around his own back and finishing with a layup to make it 101-69. Burks followed seconds later with a pair of free throws, marking the team's largest lead of the season.

In all, Utah's reserves outscored the Clippers' bench 54-32.

"From beginning to end we just didn't have energy, didn't have focus," Griffin said. "We have to do better than that."
