Ginobili, Spurs beat Clippers by 25

Dec 29, 2011 - 6:59 AM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Manu Ginobili scored 24 points and dished out six assists Wednesday to lead the Spurs to a 115-90 win over the Clippers.

DeJuan Blair added 20 points and Richard Jefferson chipped in 19 for San Antonio, which moved to 2-0. Tim Duncan had 10 points and eight rebounds.

"We shot better and defended well," Duncan said. "All in all, we're pleased with where we're at."

Blake Griffin had 28 points and pulled down nine boards while Chris Paul scored 10 and had nine assists for Los Angeles. Caron Butler and Mo Williams both scored 12 and Chauncey Billups had 11 points for the Clippers, who are 1-1.

The Clippers, who trailed by as many as 15 in the second quarter, cut the deficit to one with just 28 seconds left, but a Ginobili three-pointer gave the Spurs a 58-54 lead at the break.

The Spurs then outscored LA 38-17 in the third, thanks in part to a 13-4 run, to take a commanding 25-point at 96-71. It never dipped below 19 in the fourth quarter.

The Clippers shot just 39.2 percent from the field while the San Antonio hit 56.3 percent of its shots on 45-of-80 shooting, including 10-of-19 from behind the arc.

"Our defense needs to be better and it can get better," Griffin said.
